The 1XI beat top of the table Whittington Wanderers on Saturday Afternoon with

apart with ease. Sanders,Drew,Lambon and inparticular Lander all got runs which

Chesterfield & District Midweek Cricket League
Division Two
NFU 131-8 15 overs
Dronfield Woodhouse 129-8 15 overs
NFU win by Two Runs.
NFU batted first on a lively track at Carr Lane and made a slow start with a
couple of wickets falling on 18 thanks to the tight bowling of Matthew Gee. It
wasn’t until Steve Crookes was joined by Andy Crookes that the score began to
tick over with NFU now looking like a big target could be in the making. More
tight bowling at the death from John Bridgett and Martin Flack reduced NFU to
131 in the end. Tom Baggaley & the aforementioned Gee bowled tightly to finish
with five wickets between them.
With fading light upon them Woodhouse needed to get off to a good start and
were distraught when Matt Oldfield was given out caught behind despite the ball
hitting his pad for four runs. Dave Drew (40) then proceeded to blast the NFU
bowlers to all parts which included six fours and one six in his innings but he
really needed a partner. Flack batted sensibly but again needed someone to stay
with him, Paul Fisher attempted to up the run rate and smashed a quickfire 25
but with the light going and the wickets tumbling Woodhouse were running out of
time, Matt Gee attempted to to get close to the target with a smash and grab 18
not out but it was all in vain and Woodhouse closed with two runs to get.
Last game of the season for Dronfield Woodhouse and they have confidently
sustained their place in Division Two of the CDMCL for next season.

over Pilsley Barlow Hill. Pilsley batted first and were going along well on

29-07-2008 No Wilting for Woodhouse
On a baking hot Saturday, Whittington Wanderers 2XI won the toss and asked
Woodhouse to bat on a sweltering afternoon. A brisk start from Drew and Sanders
before Drew edged one to gully for a rapid 36. A further loss of wickets saw
Tom Baggaley get to the crease and with a steady start and Sanders starting to
flow Woodhouse looked for a big score. Sadly Sanders picked out the only
fielder on the Mid-Off Boundary and fell for 40, a further wicket loss shortly
after saw Turner join Baggaley and the run rate increased. Baggaley celebrated
his first Saturday 50 with a neat shot and more runs from Lewis saw Woodhouse
close on 212-9. Whitt Wand started very cagely and wickets saw them slump to
46-6 Lewis putting in a powerful performance, Turner unlucky not to get a
wicket was economical nevertheless. Wanderers were looking to bat the full
46overs for 106 being the target to deny Woodhouse maximum points and the fell
11 runs short after Bridgett bagged five wickets towards the end. DWCC 212-9
WW2XI 95all out. DWCC 25 points.
